M&M, SBG has been executing large no’s of EPC project located throughout the geography & inline with the mission & vision of the Senior Management and initiative taken by the BIM team, BIM implementation has been key success in the life cycle of the project, which has benefitted both the internal & external stakeholders.
With the use of BIM, a new milestone has been achieved in the field of Construction sequencing, heavy lifting, reduction of Re-work, transparency regarding the Scope of Work, bringing all the stakeholders under one umbrella etc. This has not only reduced the error through Imagination but also provided real time decision-making power to the Project team through Visualization. Till date, we have trained more than 1000+ Staff across all Project Team for the BIM usages and application in the real time Projects.
Visualization with 3D models improves communication between all the stakeholders for the 2D drawings, including fabrication drawings, are being generated directly from 3D models reducing man-hours, enhancing accuracy and quality. Progress monitoring using 4D has enhanced the capability of Project Management team with the real time visualization and planning.
Using 4D Platform, we were able to identify the missing activities in the schedule and sequence them as per the Construction plan. 3D Model along with 4D simulation helped the execution team down the line to view & understand the scope of work with proper construction sequencing to avoid any re-work. Through Field BIM, we are able to correlate the 3D Models with the As-Built Structure at site itself and are able to resolve any conflict at spot location.
3D Modelling helps the Project execution team to plan the scope of work in a comprehensive way with optimum use of Resources. Using 4D Modelling earlier identification of risks and mitigation during the progress of the project, leads to better Project Management Framework. BIM has also led to better collaboration between all the Stakeholders.
Minerals & Metals SBG has been entrusted with the supply, erection, and commissioning of two 3.5 MTPA Blast Furnaces (BF#2 & BF#3) by M/s ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AMNSI) at their Hazira Works, Gujarat, as a part of their ambitious expansion plan from the existing 8.7 MTPA to 14.2 MTPA.
3D Visualization and 4D Model: The project benefits from 3D visualization of the Blast Furnace, offering a comprehensive understanding of the project's design and layout. This 3D model is effectively integrated into the project schedule, resulting in a 4D model that provides a dynamic representation of construction progress over time.
Collaboration with BIM Team: The project involves continuous collaboration with the Building Information Modeling (BIM) team located at Kolkata, ensuring alignment between digital models and actual project progress for seamless project management. BIM Workshop for project execution team were organised on a regular basis to to alingn all project stakeholders in same platform.
AMNS BF#2 Project highlights the use of advanced BIM technology using different digital tools for project management with the proven record of improvement in project efficiency and overcoming the challenges.
By using the 3D platform in complex EPC projects across the entire value chain of design, manufacturing, material management, site construction and integrating them with the project scheduling has facilitated to create 4D project platform for effective monitoring.
BIM has enabled the visualization of structure and has provided better & enhanced collaboration between all the Stakeholders. The Project Monitoring on Synchro 4D Platform enabled us to track the progress at a micro level and looks for early resolution to any issue. The Digital Rehearsal for heavy lift structure also helped to identify the risk at early stage and mitigate the same for Safe installation of Structures. I am sure that BIM will play a pivotal role in piping works as all components, complex routing and interferences can be visualized at planning stage for successful execution.

L&T Construction’s Minerals and Metals SBG has been entrusted with the Supply, Erection & Commissioning of 6 MTPA Steel Melting Plant by M/s. ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AMNSI) at their Hazira works, Gujarat, as part of their ambitious expansion plan from the existing 8.7 MTPA to 14.2 MTPA. SMP#3 project is to be completed in a stringent time frame of 38 months.
The 3D visualization of the Steel Melting Plant received during the initial phase of the project became the key baseline for integration with the project schedule, providing the site team a 4D model of the entire job. To facilitate the same, workshop programs were organized for the site execution team at regular interval along with collaboration with the BIM team located at HQ, Kolkata.
As it’s said “Right information to the right person at the right time”, BIM has been very substantial in flowing the information among all the stakeholders and helping to take decisions at the right time to avoid any impact to the Project. Through 3D Modelling, the planning work of the Area/Zone has been very detailed with optimum use of Resource and ramping up of Productivity at site. The Weekly BIM Report keeps us all updated about Project Health and enlightens us with necessary actions required to ensure the Project is on track.
Timely identification & mitigation of project related issues were highlighted using BIM platform resulting in schedule and cost benefits.
Supply of prefabricated Structures, Piling, Civil works, Structural Erection, Mechanical & Refractory Erection along with construction of roads and drains.
BIM has enabled the Project team with more clarity on Scope and Project Monitoring. With this Platform, we are able to visualize the real time Progress and captures the onsite issues. The interoperability of BIM, coupled with its ability to facilitate cost and time analysis, has significantly optimized resource allocation and project schedules. Also, through Digital rehearsal we are able to mitigate all the potential hindrances/risk which may occur at real time construction, leading to reduction in re-work and safer work environments.
Building Information Modeling has significantly transformed the way construction projects are planned, designed, and executed, impacting both traditional and technical aspects of the construction industry. The digital model not only provided a three-dimensional representation but also integrated critical data, enabling informed decision-making at every stage
